Yggdrasil

This painting depicts the giant ash tree, Yggdrasil, that, in Norse mythology, grows at the centre of the Nine Worlds. The three Norns, who represent the past, the present and the future, sit before it, while a farseeing eagle perches in its mighty branches, as the ancient, prince of mischief, Pan, surveys the scene.
